Kitty Ferreira is an award winning sustainable womenswear brand offering elegant timeless multi-products, juxtaposing city chic with the natural world.
“It was my time working in China as a Senior Designer, witnessing the heavy pollution, that provided the catalyst for this brand,” says Founder & Creative MD, Valerie Goode; also inspired by her late grandmother’s natural lifestyle in the Caribbean (whom the label is named after).
In March 2015, the label received a commendation as runner up for Wrap.org’s SCAP Extending the Lifecycle of Clothing Design Award.
Valerie Goode incorporates upcycled fabrics eco dyed with pomegranate and onion skins and organic peace silks printed with azo-free dyes to create an aesthetic as described by Lucy Siegle from The Guardian “….for boardroom activists as opposed to penni-less heroes who climb up cooling towers, ” dispelling the hippy connotations usually associated with ethical and sustainable fashion.
The SS16 Collection takes the natural & hand dyed print of her previous collection, into a digital form. “ I wanted to keep the natural element of the SS print and bring it into a more edgier field, yet keeping the timeless and classic silhouette this label has become known for” says Goode. It is juxtaposition of city life with the natural world.
Kitty Ferreira will be showcasing her SS16 collection at Brighton Fashion Week's Sustain catwalk show on Friday 16th October.
