Born in Hamburg, Germany, Freya von Bulow is an elaborate Paper Couture designer who has graduated from Brighton University in illustrations. Her incredibly detailed gowns are made entirely from beautifully translucent and specially treated tissue paper that is unmatched in the world of fabric. The idea behind this medium is to make a fashion and artistic statement and due to its temporal quality of paper the gowns can never be owned and only last for the event they were created for. Each individual dress is a unique piece of art, a paper sculpture, and demands attitude when worn.
Since graduating, Freya von Bulow has showcased her designs at various exhibitions including CANON at Photokina Photographic Trade and Haptik Awards at Drupa Paper & Printing Trade Fair and she has been featured in the Sunday Times Style Magazine and Paperazzo. She is currently working on various collaborations with projection artists, making fashion films and has recently been commissioned to design costumes for a contemporary dance project.
